Spring Poetry

We welcomed spring in my classroom by writing some spring poems (Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring). I think it’s Spring anyway. This weather had been bizarre going back and forth in temperature constantly. We wrote in our writer’s notebooks about Spring to brainstorm for our poems. I shared mine with my K writers then they were off creating their own. Here are some of our poems.

  1. I spent a lot of time in the kindergarten classes when I was teaching, and writing poetry with them was always a favorite time. They are so spontaneous! Thank you for sharing your wonderful examples as well as your own notebook. I think these are examples (your notebook as well) that you can share at the KSRA conference! Be sure to save the pictures. (I would put a heart emoji here if I knew how).

  2. A great scaffold, Shelly! Thanks for sharing your students’ poems. They were wonderful – obviously, the modeling with your own writing really helps! Amazing writers – your classroom grows writers like Spring grows flowers!
