Laughter

Today is National Let’s Laugh Day. Have you laughed lately? Everyone needs a good laugh. Do you have people in your life who always can make you laugh?

My husband always can make me laugh even when I don’t think a smile is possible. I could be mad, sad, or frustrated and still it never fails I am laughing and smiling by the end. Feels so much better to laugh.

I love laughing with my best friend who is the sister I always wanted. She and I will laugh together until we are in tears. I find myself not being able to even get out any words from laughing so hard. We have our inside jokes and definitely laugh at inappropriate things. There is nothing like laughing with your best friend!

There is one particular moment I will always remember. We were on vacation with our dear friends who are family to us. Yes, my best friend, husband, and 2 kids. We were at the arcade and Cayden was playing with an eyeball he got as one of his prizes. Mike said to hold on to it. Well…

Cayden tried bouncing it like a bouncy ball. Instead of it bouncing back up into the air, it exploded all over Mike!!!!! Mike was covered in eyeball goo. Our eyes met and I bursted out in laugher. I couldn’t help myself. Tears were streaming down my face and I couldn’t speak. We went to Rita’s after and I was still laughing. I just couldn’t stop. Everyone was laughing because I just kept on giggling as I ate my gelati. I’m laughing just writing this as I remember everything so vividly. I will never forget this priceless moment on vacation (or let Mike forget)!

  1. I really connected with this piece, Shelly. Your sentences about your husband is able to make you laugh when you did not think it was possible – so much like my life. Ralph is always trying to get me to laugh more, too. He says I am too serious. The uncontrollable giggles – don’t you just love letting loose every once in awhile? I had those giggles at an ADK meeting a few months ago – I could not stop once I got started!
A great way to start my day with your piece!
