New Family Member

Matt and I talked about getting another puppy for awhile. It just hasn’t worked out.

Until NOW!!!!

Last week, I came across the most adorable pug puppy online. Emailed the breeder right away. Talked to him on the phone and it was set! She was ours!!!!

Pick up was yesterday! Of course took Ginger with for approval! 😀 Here is our first meeting:

Time to go home!!!!

We decided to name her Rylee. She’s the perfect addition to our family!!!!

Stealth

Here is a description of a water ride we went on while in Ocean City, Maryland called Stealth.

No one wanted to go.

Looked a bit intimidating.

Not much of a edge around it.

Steep.

However, Cayden, 10, wanted to try it (my little daredevil).

Of course, I agreed to go with him.

We finally got to the top.

It was our turn to cross the bridge to get on the tube.

The girl that helped with getting us situated in the tube was harnessed so she wouldn’t fall (definitely a sign of the craziness of the ride).

Cayden in the front and me in the back.

Hold on tight.

No turning back now!

WHOOSH!!!

Ahhhhhh!!!

Down we went (HUGE drop).

Side to side, up and down.

Laughs and squeals of joy

So much fun!

A thrill no doubt!

Sounds of the Beach

Here is a poem inspired by “Forest Has a Song” by Amy Ludwig VanDerwater.

At the beach in Ocean City, Maryland

I hear

Families enjoying the ocean fun.

Laughter and squeals of joy.

Kids laughing.

Waves crashing.

Seagulls squawking.

Boats zooming.

Whistle blowing.

Lifeguard yelling.

Families conversing.

Airplanes flying.

The beach has a song.

Love at First Sight

My brother and sister-in-law had their first child on Father’s Day.

So perfect in every way.

Julian Brian is so small

His face says it all

Adorable and precious to me

Everyone would agree

Having Julian in my arms, he stole my heart

Right from the start

His tiny hands wrapped around my finger, he opened his eyes so we could see his beautiful blue eyes

How I felt I cannot verbalize

Julian melted my heart right away

He is very special in every way

Julian brings my life so much light

Definitely love at first sight

Poetry Month kickoff

We kicked off Poetry Month with my K writers brainstorming: What is Poetry? Then we watched “A Poem Is…” by Disney (clips of students sharing what poetry is to them). We came back to our anchor chart and added more ideas. We will continue to add to our chart throughout the month! Great list so far!

We read I Love Chocolate by David’s Cali today to inspire our writing in our writer’s notebook. A student on her own wrote a poem! Was so thrilled!

Chocolate Oh chocolate you taste so good. You’re munchy and crunchy. Like cake too. I love you so very very much. You make me happy. So very very much. You make my heart better.

A Great Poetry Moment in the Library :

I was in the library today dropping off a book for the librarian when a first grade student was telling her he could not get to the 811s. She told him to tell me because she knows how much I love poetry! 😀 He said “I just learned about poetry and I can’t even get to the 811s (poetry books)!” There were so many students that were in the section that he couldn’t get in. Kudos to our librarian for getting the students super excited about poetry!

What a great start to Poetry Month!!!

SOL18 Reflections

I always amaze myself, even after my 3rd year doing the Slice of Life Challenge, at the end of the month. Writing every day for 31 days. Having something to write about for 31 days straight. I find myself being more observant. Throughout the day I think “oh, that would be a great slice!” I also go back and look through my writer’s notebook. Bring back memories for reflection. I can’t thank Two Writing Teachers enough for this amazing community! I am a better writer because of this community. Love connecting with other slicers. The inspiration is endless. The encouragement is appreciated and needed. An acrostic poem to sum up the month of writing:

Write daily

Reflect

Inspired by others

Take risks

Identify the infinite possibilities

Need encouragement

Give feedback

Thank you TWT for this amazing community of writers!

Daddy’s Girl

Who feeds her?

Mommy.

Who makes sure she has water?

Mommy.

Who lets her out?

Mommy.

Who keeps track of her medications?

Mommy.

Who is home with her more?

Mommy.

Who does Ginger cuddle with at night?

Her daddy.

Who does Ginger cuddle with on weekends?

Her daddy.

Who does she sleep with at night?

Her daddy.

Matt had to go back into work one night and didn’t get home until 1:30 am.

This meant no cuddling with daddy.

She laid on dad’s side of the bed.

Jumped off bed and went into living room.

Very unsettled without her daddy.

I went into living room expecting to find her getting into trouble.

Nope.

Just on the couch getting a blanket (her daddy’s) just right (fluffing it up) so she could lay on it

Waiting for her daddy.

Finally convinced her to lay next to me in bed.

Second best to her daddy.

As soon as her daddy got home.

Back to her daddy again.

Happy as a clam now.

Now I’m on Spring Break.

So it is just Ginger and me during the day.

Now of course I’m good enough .

She is able to be free of her pen.

Go outside when she wants.

Cuddles with me.

Until…

Her daddy gets home.

She used to be mommy’s girl. Not sure what happened.

Thank you TWT for this amazing community of writers!
