Completed our first list poem inspired by John Frank’s poem, “Signs”. Modeled my own poem and also created one together. One K writer even wrote “I love poems” all over hers! 😀
Wow, Shelly! I miss being a part of all this! The kids really did a great job imitating “Signs” – love the birthday and Easter lists, but the beach is calling my name! Thanks for including the wonderful samples for us to read and enjoy. Happy Poetry month!
Thrilled to pieces Molly loves “poums” so much! I’ve thought about typing my K students work up. You’ve inspired me! Do type up all? Love learning along with you! 🙂
I type up all their poems and then put them all together to create a book for all their poems. I type them up as I conference with them. They do the brainstorming and create their poem in their writer’s notebook before coming to me. The only poem I don’t type is the shape poem I have them do. They draw a picture and write the poem around it. I let them choose fonts and where on the page they would like their poem. They love poetry and they usually end up writing poems in their writer’s notebook on their own. :o)
